Robert A. “Boomer” Mattila, age 52, a resident of Calumet passed away unexpectedly on Thursday August 4, 2016.
He was born on January 7, 1964 in Laurium to Donald and Alberta (Sakkinen) Mattila.
Bob worked as an over the road trucker for the majority of his life. He owned his own log truck from 1997-2013. Following his logging business he moved out to Wyoming where he hauled oil tankers. More recently he was in South Carolina working with many construction companies hauling gravel.
Bob loved the outdoors, and he loved to boat. When he wasn’t working in the woods, you could find him either riding his four wheeler throughout the Keweenaw, or you could find him fishing and boating in Lac La Belle.
He also loved going on vacations with his family. Together they made several trips to Florida in the winter.
On July 12, 1997 he married Lynn McKinstry in Laurium, she preceded him in death on June 3, 2012.
On May 12, 2014 he married Jocelyn Regis in Houghton.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lynn.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Saturday August 13, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 13, 2016 at 6:00 pm in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
