Karen Roberts,74, a resident of Calumet passed away Friday June 3, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer
She was born on June 12, 1941 in Wolverine to Ahti and Irene (Oikarianen) Lamminaho.
Karen graduated from Calumet High School.
She worked at Calumet Electronics for a short time and then worked as Secretary for Osceola Township from 1998-2008 when she retired.
On August 30, 1958 she married James Roberts in Calumet and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2013.
Karen loved to travel and always had her bag packed and ready to go. She enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening, reading, and spending time in Bete Grise. She enjoyed the arts and sketching and attended the area art shows.
Karen loved the time she spent with her family, kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
She is survived by:
2 sons, Bruce (Tracy) Roberts of Marquette
Kevin (Melissa) Roberts of Sarasota, Florida
2 daughters, Christine (Glenn) Patrick of Mohawk
Laurie Anne (Dan) Harter of Calumet
Grandchildren- Jamie (Kathleen), Joshua, Marissa, Nick (Lauren), Ryan (Cassie), Jesse (Bailey) Allie (Tyler), Mike (Amanda) and Lucas
11 Great grandchildren;
Brother: Richard (JoAnn) Aho of Austin, Minnesota
Sister: Joanne (Keith) Klobuchar of Calumet
Sister in law: Mary Roberts Arko of Detroit
Special family friend Pat Maatta
Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet with Pastor Tim Johnston to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Wednesday from 5-8 PM and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
