Edwin “JR” Wetelainen, 72, a resident of Laurium passed away peacefully on Sunday January 25, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Health and Rehab in Hubbell.
He was born on July 15, 1942 in Laurium a son of the late Edwin and Jeanette (Schmitt) Wetelainen.
He graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1960.
On January 26, 1961 he was married to Grace E. Thornton and she preceded him in death on February 11, 1990.
Following his retirement in 2007 Edwin enjoyed being at his camp in Big Traverse and spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Packers, Red Wings, Tigers and local sporting events. Edwin played baseball and slow pitch softball for many years and was also an avid bowler and bowled for many years in the Laurium league.
He was a member of the Foresters of America Court North Star #17.
Preceding him in death was his parents, his wife and a sister Myrna Cleveland.

Ryan Wetelainen, Katrina, Ethan, Ellie and Evie Maki, Jake and Josh Wetelainen
Great Grandchildren: Madison Abernathy and Expectant great grandchild #2 in March
Brother: Gordon (Carol) Wetelainen of Laurium Sister: Judy (William) Mikko of Laurium
Uncle Bernard Schmitt Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday January 30, 2015 at 5:00 PM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Bruce Nolen to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Friday from 2-5 PM.
