Richard (Dick) McKay, 69, of Mass City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2015 with his wife and daughter at his side following a long illness.
Dick was born on February 9, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri, grew up in Nisula, MI, then graduated from the Baraga High School with the class of 1963. In 1964 he married Judy Aari, moved to Detroit for a year before moving back to Mass City, where they raised their two children together. Judy passed away in 1991. In 1995 Dick married Susan Buzzo Roberts, and they went on to enjoy many good laughs together over the following twenty years.
Dick is survived by wife Susan, children Laurie McKay, Rick (Becky) McKay, Dave (Deb) Roberts, Billie Jo (Darren) Weisinger, Shannon (Steve) Bobula, grandchildren, Jenny (Stuart Schmidt) Gagnon, Jake Roberts, Cory and Kinsey Weisinger, Hallie and Morgan Bobula, great grand-daughter Analeza Gagnon, sisters Joyce McKay, Bonnie (Ken) Korttila, and Diane (Tim) Mayo, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Ronnie Heikkinen, first wife Judy, brothers Mike (Wanda) and Bill McKay, Ronnie Heikkinen, and a sister Marcia Velmer.
Visitation will be held at St.Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mass City, MI on Saturday, January 17, at 11:00 am with services to follow at 12:00 pm.
