Calumet
Maude Augustine, 105, of Calumet, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility, where she was a resident for the past 3 years.
She was born in Calumet on March 30, 1909 to her parents, Baptista and Mary (Serrain) Bigando. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1928.
Maude was married to John Augustine on May 29, 1941 at St. Mary's Church, in Calumet and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2003.
Also preceding her in death were 3 siblings:
an infant sister, brother George, and Sister Victoria Little
Maude attended the Gertrude Hale Beauty School in Chicago and worked in
Chicago for one year during the days of Prohibition.
She also worked for Vertin's as a Salesclerk/ Model.
She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle church.
Maude is survived by
Her son; Mike (Lynn) of Houghton
3 grandchildren; Kris, Nicole, and Matthew
She is also survived by a special niece Mary Pat (Little) Wheeler of New
Hope, MN., and a special family friend, Shirley Burrows, Calumet, MI., and
several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private funeral service will be held in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet Deacon Art Stancher to officiate.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
