Condolence From: DAVID M LYTH
Condolence: I had hoped to see Bob when I was up there in June setting up the scholarship honoring my wife, Joyce Caylor Lyth (1972). She passed away this spring.
I got my start teaching through Bob. I was his paper grader during the 1972-3 school year. The Dean passed away during Thanksgiving break and Bob took over as Acting Dean. He then looked to me to be a teaching assistant, not just a paper grader. It was my first experience at the front of the classroom. He was very supportive. He was very helpful with recommendations to improve my teaching performance.
In 1978, he hired me as an Instructor teaching statistics and quality control. Again, he was very good at mentoring and helping me develop my teaching skills.
Since then, I have gone on to get a Ph.D. at Michigan State and I am a Professor of Engineering Management at Western Michigan University. Our program is nationally ranked and very successful. None of this would have happened if Bob hadn't given me that chance back in the 1970s to see what my role in higher education could be.
Bob was always someone I could speak very openly with. I truly appreciate all he was able to do for me.
My best to all of you. I hope you get lots of memories of Bob to help with the healing process.
Best regards,
David Lyth

Condolence From: Tami Anderson
Condolence: My sincere condolences to Hester and family. Hester, I had the distinct honor and pleasure to work for and with "Bob" at Finlandia University from 2002-2006, first as his Administrative Asst. and then as a colleague. He was forever a kind, patient and supportive person as well as a professional mentor to myself and many others, including his students. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Sincerely, Tami

Condolence: From Bob & Gert Antioho
To Hester and extended family
We want to extend our sympathy to your family and wish we could be there in person. We are in Chicago where Bob is recovering from surgery. He was in the hospital for two weeks and has 4-6 weeks of therapy before we can return to Calumet. We shall be in contact when we return.
Bob is remembering so many times spent together working at the bowling alleys. He could do anything and fix anything just like his father. They worked together leveling the alleys, putting a roof on the alleys and any other job that needed doing. Bob says he was just a "gofer" to your Bob when they worked together. Besides that he was a good friend. I remember your visit when we lived above the alleys and you had returned from Saudi Arabia. I still have the lovely plate you gave us from there and I cherish it. Good memories.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Bob and Gert
