Harold “Pee Wee” Heikkila, 85, a long time Raymbaultown resident and current resident of the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette passed away on Saturday February 20, 2010.

He was born on August 23, 1924 in Calumet a son of the late Matt and Jennie (Koski) Heikkila.

Pee Wee attended the Calumet High School until his enlistment in the U.S. Army. He served his county with honor during WW II.

He was an avid sports fan and well known softball and baseball player in his younger years.

He spent his working years in construction for Proksch and for Gundlach until his retirement at age 64.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters: Stella, Edna and Ethel, 6 brothers: Wallace, Roy, Arthur, Wesley, Ralph and Garnet.

Surviving is:

Sister: Helen Zeman of Niles, Illinois

Brother: Edward (Sharon) Heikkila of Calumet

Many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday February 26, 2010 at 5:00 PM in the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet with the Rev. Ken Toth to officiate.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet on Friday from 4-5 PM.

Burial with military honors will be held in the spring at Lake View Cemetery.

  I am sorry I will not be able to attend the services on Friday, but I would like to attend the burial in the spring. Please keep me informed. He was a good uncle and I have many fond memories of him. I hope someday we will meet again.
